Our elementary school participated in the Reflections media contest – the theme this year was ‘Together We Can.’ Brooklyn filmed herself reading a story about some animals who help with Mose’s loose tooth. Talmage glued some aluminum cans together into a pyramid and put on each can a picture he drew of people who help him. They both won in their category for their age groups. It was fun to see them recognized at their school assembly. Good job kiddos

(Anybody else notice the toddler-neck-crack-scum in this first picture? I didn’t until I picked them up from the studio – sigh, oh well.)

Don’t you just wish you could reach into some pictuers to fix some little thing? I would reach in and fix the petals of her hair clip that are poking up in this picture.

Ever heard of a pitman arm? We hadn’t either until the gentleman who did the safety and emissions check on our truck told us that it needed to be replaced in the truck for it to pass the inspection. Nic solicited help from a work buddy and a neighbor. It turned out to be a lot more work than Nic had anticipated, but they got it done. You go boys.

Fixing the truck. Talmage thinks Nic looks like an Imagination Mover (from Disney?) in the coveralls Nic inherited from his Grandpa Lin.
Speaking of pits and arms…Nic asked if he and we could switch to a deoderant that didn’t have aluminum in it. (It’s a nice feeling to have someone care if I get cancer or not.) We switched to Tom’s of Maine (http://www.tomsofmaine.com/products). It works pretty well – not as well as a traditional deoderant as far as not sweating goes. All in all, though, a good switch we think.

My friend told me about a pick-your-own raspberry patch in Payson, where you come and pay $2/lb for what you pick. We took the kids and ended up having so much fun. We got enough to eat fresh that day and some leftover to freeze for smoothies later. The kids were so cute – it was like they found a treasure whenever they found a ripe berry.

Molly turned 2 on 10-10-10! (A better mom would have fixed her hair and said no when she wanted to wear Clara’s shirt for her birthday party…but she’s just so cute anyway!)

Molly loves watching Backyardigains episodes lately. This is a stuffed Uniqua doll. She calls it ‘MyNiqua’ instead of ‘YouNiqua.’

When Molly wants more of something (in this case presents), she doesn’t ask for ‘more presents’…she asks for ‘more more presents.’ This holds true for more more milk, more more cereal, more more…anything!

Talmage, Brooklyn, and Grandma Nomino worked together to make this cake because Molly likes butterflies and flowers. She doesn’t, however, like cake very much and ended up asking for ‘more more ice cream’ instead!

Don’t be scared! – Those are Nic’s legs Molly is riding on in this picture Nic took of his mini, Boston fan.
Happy Birthday Cutie!

On our way home from my class reunion, we dropped Nic off at the airport to catch his flight to Chicago. He was there for a mobile ap conference for a whole week! While there, he did get to go see Holly, Richard, and Aubs one evening. He also met up with his friend John a couple of times. We’re glad he had fun, but even more glad to have hime back!

After picking Daddy up at the airport, we decided to indulge the kids with a ‘train ride.’ Here they are as we wait for the Trax.

Putting together my 10yr class reunion was a lot of work and a lot of fun. We planned it for Sept 18th – Spud Day. (I did have a dream that my classmates started showing up at MY HOUSE on SEPTEMBER 18th in prom dresses and tuxedoes…good thing I was out of town on Sept 18th. Nobody showed up…that I know of – hehe.) I worked with Liz Contos Tanner (also here in Utah) and Tara Mueller Olrich (living in Missouri) to pull everything together. When it was all said and done, there were some things I would have done differently. But even so, I think everything turned out quite well! Go Russets!

The gal in our ward who babysits our kids (Kaylee) is quite the little artist. I asked if she’d be willing and if she would have time to paint this board for my reunion for me as a favor. Yay! It turned out so cute! Nic was the man – he built the elbows to help it stand up on it’s own. The only problem was getting it from Utah to Idaho – I thought our van was going to take flight as we drove down the freeway with this bungied to the top. Whew – glad we made it. (Steve Hansen, one of our classmates, lives in Shelley and offered to store it for us.)

These posters were so fun to make! Can you tell what they say? The parade moved along more quickly than I anticipated, and I don’t think people in the crowd had time to ‘get’ it. We were recieving quite a few blank stares and confused looks. I started just shouting out the answer to everyone along the parade route. This float may have contained a bit too large of a dose of my own kind of humor. Oh well. The answer you ask?…it was the official theme of the Spud Day Parade that year…”Spud Party USA.”

Handsome husby driving Grandpa LeMoyne's truck that we borrowed to pull the float.

Parade float bunch.

We had a family get-together at our old elementary school playground. The kids played. The adults chatted. Otter pops were enjoyed by all.

We decorated our high school cafeteria for the adult get-together that evening. (The lantern lights belong to Nic’s mom – a nice touch!) We had a memorial table set up to remember those in our class who have passed on. We served light refreshments – punch and cookies.

We had an entrance table where classmates could pick up their name tag (complete with his/her senior picture printed on it), donate (since the event itself was no charge), and fill out a card to update their contact info. We also set up a silent auction as a fundraiser. Not many businesses donated. A few classmates brought things to contribute. I ended up supplying most of the prizes myself, which was okay because we did raise a fair ammount of money in the end. (Not something I would attempt again.)

We provided some Minute to Win It games (inspired by Nic’s sister, Anna, who put together a totally fun, Minute to Win It family party a while before).

We also had karaoke.

But, mostly, people just mingled and caught up with old friends. A success in my eyes. At the end of the night, I was happy to pass the torch on to Hayley, who offered to put together the 20 year reunion.

One of our new favorite dates is going to RSL soccer games.

Nic just couldn’t wait for me to get the food out of my teeth to take these pics. I ended up having to just do a no-tooth smile – sheesh

Great seats at half price through KSL Deals!

Free tickets from Nic's work friend!

Under the Flag - being passed around the stadium after a goal.

Stomach Flu. Clara and Molly got it first. We had to cancel our babysitter for that evening and send Nic to the Saturday adult session of our stake conference on his own. Brooklyn, Talmage, and Nic woke up with the bug the next morning. They all looked so pitiful, I just had to take a few pics. My favorite is the one of Nic with the fly on his face. (I had my share of the stomach flu a day later – I swear it was that same fly that tormented me by landing on my face while I was wrething in agony, just wishing to fall asleep.)
