Our poor van…Munched!

I slammed on my breaks, but it was too late and we hit the big yellow Ford 350 truck in front of us. Scary! (Nic was at home with the three bigger kids.) Holly was in the passenger seat – she said she is fine. Aubrey and Molly were in the back. They started crying right away, but were not hurt other than small abrassions on their necks from their carseat seat belts. (When I first looked back at Aubrey, I thought her mouth was bleeding. It turns out, it was just red licorice that I saw in her teeth!) A paramedic checked them both out – said they looked fine, but to watch for anything unusual in the next 24 hours. My neck now hurts quite a bit (more so now than when we initially hit). This just compounded the troubles I already have in my neck I think. I called my chiropractor at home and he was kind enough to adjust me, even though it was a Saturday.
The driver of the yellow truck and his wife were very kind. (I think the collision may have bent their back bumber.) They had Irish accents, and were very good to work with :) He told me and the officer that a line of cars in front of them had all stopped short. No one was issued a ticket.
The whole front of the van is munched. Undrivable. We will know more about what will be happening in regards to getting it fixed after the adjustor has a look at it on Tuesday.

Talmage’s 5th Birthday

We celebrated Talmage’s birthday for several days in a row! Grandma Nomino and Aunt Anna came to visit the weekend before his real birthday. We went to Ecles Dinosaur Park in Ogden on Saturday. We had heart-shaped pizza and peas for dinner. He opened presents and we ate his dinosaur cake.  On Sunday (Valentine’s Day) we sang to him in primary. At home, we decorated heart-shaped sugar cookies and delivered them to some of our neighbors. On Monday, we went to Ikea where we all ate meatballs for lunch. The kids then got to play in the play place while Molly and the adults shopped. On Tuesday (his real birthday), he had a special day at his pre-school where he got to wear a birthday crown and choose the snack. We went to the dollar theater that night. Whew! What a party :)

Brooklyn had an invention fair at her school. Since she doesn’t like putting her shoes away when she takes them off, she decided to invent a robot to put them away for her.

One of Talmage’s favorite meals (and mine too) is homemade pigs in a blanket. This time when I made them, though, I guess I didn’t seal the edges of the dough well enough. They opened right up as they cooked in the oven, resulting in…pigs ON a blanket.
